Pack 729
July 2011Campout Kelly's Island
Pack 729 kicked off the summer camping on Canadian soil.
Families and scout's enjoyed campfire cooked meals and activities that put smiles on everyones face.
Friday we ventured on a bike ride downtown. The scouts enjoyed seining bags of dirt for gems and fossils. They then played 18 holes of minature golf untl it began to pour rain! The rain didn't dampen their spirits and the clouds soon passed away. More biking lead to a off beat path that soon lead to one of Kelly's Islands best hidden secrets. Kelly's Island had one of the oldest distilleries in Ohio. They don't produce wine any longer since the old castle like distillery burned down several times over the past century! Walking through the half demolished twenty foot stone walls was amazing. The cellar remains pristine.
Saturday we biked to Glacial Grooves. After we kayaked in the crystal clear waters off Kelly's Island Park. Hiking soon came after as we stumbled upon an old smoke house and even an old half rusted out 1940's Ford car.
What a great Scouting Adventure
Hope to see you next year!
